Review by Rick Eaglestone
Belguims Déhà returns with their third instalment of the Averses collection.
Although very much sticking to the same formula as before there certainly is heightened level in terms of soundscapes and musicianship for example the album's opener Hivernal effortlessly interweaves melodic parts which provides an enriching atmosphere with bleak tones really empathising the black metal side
The track lengths of the album are used really well to showcase all available elements Abondance has an intensity throughout that really is a highlight of the release, there is also a variation in the vocals which I particularly enjoyed alongside the use of atmospherics
Moving on to the album's longest tracks both Pas Vraiment and 2001 are well placed, laden with emotion and complement each other wonderfully, before putting this on I went and revised both I & II and this iteration is very much in keeping with the previous releases aesthetic
Concluding with the short Prelude a la Drache Nationale adds a nice ominous tone with a slight Dungeon Synth which I thought was a great closer
