Lungtoucher are back with another frothing, visceral dirge that will such you into the depths of despair on My Consort, Eternal

Right from the opening moments of "Baleful Shadows," it becomes immediately apparent that Lungtoucher aren't interested in easing anyone gently into their world as when it truly kicks in, and any pretence of subtlety gets excised with surgical precision. The drumming is absolutely relentless, each blast beat feeling like involuntary muscle contractions, while the vocals sound like they could strip the lining from your bronchial tubes. There's a rawness to the production that actually enhances the experience rather than diminishing it. This isn't polished to a sterile sheen; it's got the grit of something organic, something that breathes and bleeds.

"Foul Trespasser" might be the album's most immediate track, showcasing Lungtoucher's ability to craft songs that are simultaneously suffocating and strangely beautiful. The whole track is wrapped around a folk horror shell which is then complimented with a blistering outpouring on "Cursemark" which has some great atmospheric tones at its conclusion

Another aural treat is "Dark Night of the Soul" there is a duality here that works incredibly well  and the pacing in particular is well thought trough and really serves as a centrepiece of the release and what's particularly impressive is how Lungtoucher have expanded their sonic palette without sacrificing the claustrophobic intensity that made their previous work so compelling with the increased focus on melody, and an overall broader dynamic range, it really feels that Lungtoucher is transcending genre boundaries and falling into the category of a universally appreciated collective within the metal underground.

Again proving they don't do anything by halves is the near nine minute conclusion "Fell Thy Deceiver" which further cements earlier comments of ever evolving musicianship -  its a great send off which is littered with elements that you feel compelled to go back to time and time again.

A suffocating masterpiece, which is both stimulating and physically punishing.
